Reading-based Clasado Biosciences (‘Clasado’) has announced that Senior Scientist and R&D Manager, Dr Georgina Dodd, will complete a sponsored skydive to raise money for the company’s chosen charity partner, Sport in Mind.
Taking place on 26th July, the challenge will see Georgina skydive from a dizzying height of 15,000ft, all for a good cause.
Sport in Mind, also based in Reading, aims to improve the lives of people in the local community, experiencing mental health problems through the power of sport and physical activity. In partnership with the National Health Service (NHS), the organisation delivers programmes designed by healthcare professionals and individuals with personal experience of mental health challenges.
Dr Dodd said: “I look forward to throwing myself into this challenge for Sport in Mind and facing my fear in this adrenaline-fuelled activity. Mental health is an issue close to our hearts at Clasado, and I am thrilled to be able to combine my love of adventure with a great cause.
“We are particularly proud to partner with a fellow Reading organisation. Sport in Mind’s efforts make an important difference in the lives of individuals struggling with mental health challenges. Alongside our other fundraising activities, donations raised from this skydive event in July will help Sport in Mind with its vital work, providing accessible sports and physical activity programs that positively impact mental health outcomes.”
Neil Harris, Founder and CEO at Sport in Mind, added: “We are delighted that Dr Dodd will be taking the plunge to support our team. Mental health problems will impact many of us throughout our lives, but we have seen first-hand the positive impact that physical activity can have. We’d like to thank the Clasado team, who chose us as their charity partner, for both the fundraising and for helping us amplify our message.”
In the lead-up to the skydive, Clasado warmly welcomes any corporate or personal donations in support of Sport in Mind. Those wishing to contribute are invited to do so through the Just Giving page that has been set up.
Per Rehné, CEO at Clasado, said: “It’s important to all of us that we’re able to give back to our local community wherever we can. It’s never been more important to consider how physical activity can support mental health, and Sport in Mind is doing a very important job in the Reading area. And of course, we’re proud of Georgina for facing her fears and perfectly demonstrating Clasado values, always aiming to leave a positive impact on the world around us.”
