Clasado Biosciences, a global leader in the innovative development of clinically proven prebiotic ingredients and product solutions for the human gut microbiome, has joined as industry member of the ‘All-Party Parliamentary Group on the Human Gut Microbiome’, APPG, to support with scientific and industry knowledge and communicate the benefits of a flourishing gut microbiome.
The leading biotechnology company, which develops microbiome science-backed prebiotic ingredients and consumer products aimed at gastrointestinal wellness, has positioned itself as a thought leader in the field, having already worked with globally recognised research institutes including University of Reading and Kings College London to develop its unique prebiotic Bimuno®.
Per Rehné, Clasado Chief Executive Officer, said: “As the topic of gut health and the popularity of products that support it has increased significantly over recent years, the need to highlight and communicate the role of the gut microbiome in physical and mental health is more important than ever.
“The APPG on the Human Gut Microbiome aims to improve knowledge and understanding within the UK parliament of the role of a flourishing gut microbiome in benefiting human health. At Clasado, we are proud to be members of initiatives like this. We are confident that it will attract a lot of attention with parliamentarians and peers over time due to the increasing amount of knowledge, evidence and solutions that will be provided by academia, scientific advisors and industry associates.”
The purpose of the APPG on the Human Gut Microbiome is to engage with peers and parliamentarians across all political parties to communicate the benefits of flourishing gut microbiota. The group will build learnings over time, initially creating excitement about the benefits of the microbiome for society and healthcare, explaining how a flourishing gut microbiome is created and the mechanisms behind it all.
Clasado’s leading commercial product based on gut microbiome science, Bimuno, naturally feeds and stimulates the growth and activity of good bacteria, specifically bifidobacteria, in the gut. The range currently comprises three products designed for individuals wishing to support their digestive and immune health. All the products in the range contain unique and patent-protected second-generation galactooligosaccharides developed by Clasado and have been carefully tested in independent scientific studies.
