Clasado’s Dr. Lucien Harthoorn appointed to ILSI Europe Board of Directors

Clasado Biosciences (‘Clasado’) proudly announces that R&D Director, Dr. Lucien Harthoorn, has been appointed to the Board of Directors at the International Life Sciences Institute Europe (ILSI Europe).

ILSI Europe is a nutrition industry non-profit body centred on using collaborative science to provide guidance to the food sector. The community-based organisation aims to build greater cohesion and dialogue between academics, industry figures and public service experts, to reach safe, nutritious and sustainable food supplies for all.

Dr. Harthoorn commented: “I am delighted and honoured to be nominated to the ILSI Europe Board of Directors; the organisation is conducting highly valuable work in matters of nutrition and public health. The mission is to use evidence-based scientific principles to improve global accessibility to safe and nutritious food, and it’s a fantastic organisation to be part of.

“ILSI Europe promotes science grounded in quality and integrity, creating peer-reviewed publications, reports, guidance documents, webinars, symposia and more. At Clasado, we are passionate about using the latest scientific understanding of nutrition to create stronger public health outcomes, in our case through prebiotics. That aligns perfectly with ILSI Europe’s mission, and I look forward to contributing to the long-term development of the organisation. What’s more, ILSI Europe has a designated prebiotics taskforce, which includes our R&D Senior Scientist, Dr Georgina Dodd. The taskforce investigates the potential of prebiotics in supporting wellbeing and seeks to accelerate our collective understanding of how gut microbiome modulation fits into the modern health landscape.”

In the three-year role, Dr. Harthoorn will help define the strategic direction of ILSI Europe, will assist in the development of the Scientific Advisory Committee, and contribute to the election of Board Officers.

Per Rehne, CEO at Clasado Biosciences, added: “We are thrilled at Dr. Harthoorn’s appointment. He will no doubt make great contributions. He is a motivated and highly accomplished scientist and is pivotal in supporting our own innovation pipeline. As the organisation continues to create useful resources using evidence-based science, we look forward to seeing how Dr. Harthoorn makes his mark on the Board of Directors.”
