Clasado Biosciences (‘Clasado’) is celebrating after its prebiotic ingredient Bimuno® has been shortlisted in the NutraIngredients Asia awards in the Ingredient of the Year: Prebiotic category.
The announcement underlines a string of award successes, which has also seen consumer product Bimuno® DAILY shortlisted in the consumer-led Health & Wellness awards, as well as the Pharmacy MVP Awards, voted for by registered pharmacists.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, the 2020 NutraIngredients Asia Awards, now in its third year, will be held as a virtual event on Tuesday 22nd September. The event will be livestreamed as winners are announced.
Per Rehné, CEO at Clasado, commented: “We’re delighted to be shortlisted at the NutraIngredients Asia Awards, competing against some of the biggest names in health and nutrition. Our business has made real commercial strides over the last few years and we’re carving out our own market niche.”
The company’s submission focused on the core science that has propelled the ingredient to a prominent and strong market position. As the most widely studied prebiotic ingredient of its kind, the efficacy of Bimuno is supported by over 90 scientific publications, including more than 20 clinical trials.
The business has continually invested in a comprehensive research and development programme designed to build on Bimuno’s growing global presence and commercial momentum. In addition, Clasado has identified the increasing need for better gut health education for both consumers and the nutrition sector alike. To address this demand, the company has created new learning platforms on its Clasado B2B website, as well as recently re-launching its Bimuno website.
Rehné concluded: “Bimuno, as both a functional ingredient and as a finished product, are both proving to truly engage with today’s health and wellness consumer. Having put such a strong focus on the science that underpins gut health, we are in a strong market position. Our shortlisting in the NutraIngredients Asia Awards as prebiotic ingredient of the year further demonstrates the considerable – and marketable – advantages of our proprietary GOS technology. “It’s an honour to be shortlisted and recognised by a diverse panel of category experts at NutraIngredients Asia and scooping the award would be another feather in the cap of our fantastic team. It’s a great way to underline the exciting progress we have made in making gut microbiome science more accessible, as well as highlighting the versatility of our ingredient.”
