Can Bimuno GOS be used in medical nutrition?

Following a submission involving Clasado, GOS has been permitted by the European Commission for use in foods for special medical purposes (FSMPs). As an example, this allows GOS, to be used in FSMPs for the dietary management of gastrointestinal health issues of patients. 

What is the difference between prebiotics and probiotics?

Whilst similar in name, they are fundamentally different. A prebiotic is a substrate that is utilised by bacteria in the gut microbiome and confers a health benefit to the host.

A probiotic is a live microorganism, also referred to as ‘good bacteria’, that when administered in sufficient amounts for the strain, confers a health benefit.

Can Bimuno GOS be used with a probiotic?
