The appointment sees the Italian health and nutrition specialist as its exclusive distributor of prebiotic ingredient Bimuno® GOS in Italy.
The partnership grants Pharmanutra rights to supply Bimuno GOS to brands and contract manufacturers across the Italian supplements, food and beverage, and pet nutrition markets. With a strong track record in branded ingredients and an established portfolio of its own proprietary solutions, Pharmanutra brings both commercial reach and market insights to the collaboration.
Italy represents one of the most established markets for biotics in Europe, and a strong opportunity for science-led prebiotic development. Consumer appetite is already well established, with digestive health reported as the leading health concern among Italian consumers according to FMCG Gurus, and awareness of prebiotics is high, with 67% familiar with the category. Notably, 53% of Italian consumers purchased a product with prebiotic benefits in the past twelve months, a signal of genuine, purchasing-stage demand.
