2025 in review: Clasado reflects on a year of progress
November 25, 2025

As 2025 draws to a close, at Clasado, we’re reflecting on a year that has truly marked a turning point for prebiotics in health and nutrition. From pioneering scientific publications to industry recognition and strategic global expansion, this has been a year full of exciting changes.

The prebiotic category has continued to build global momentum throughout 2025, with Google Trend data showing consumer interest at an all-time high. This growth reflects a profound shift: consumer understanding of the gut microbiome’s role in overall health is reaching a tipping point, and prebiotics are moving decisively from niche ingredient to a mainstream innovation driver for health and wellbeing.

At Clasado, we’ve been proud to play a leading role in this evolution. Here’s how 2025 unfolded for us.

Science that sets new standards

Scientific rigour has always been at the heart of what we do, and 2025 has underlined this commitment like never before.

In August, a new landmark study published in Metabolites confirmed that our prebiotic ingredient, Bimuno® GOS, delivers a proven prebiotic effect at ultra-low doses, from just 380mg of active GOS per day. Conducted with research partner Cryptobiotix using its next-generation SIFR® technology, the study demonstrated that Bimuno GOS produces a statistically significant bifidogenic effect, supporting measurable increases in beneficial bacteria and key short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), alongside significant decreases in gut pH, within just six hours.

This research is significant for formulators working with compact or multi-ingredient formats such as capsules and tablets. It expands what’s possible when creating gut health products backed by scientific evidence, offering ultimate formulation flexibility.

Through the year, we continued to build our already extensive scientific portfolio. With Bimuno GOS now backed by more than 125 scientific publications, including over 20 clinical trials, 2025 has seen it further strengthen its position as the most comprehensively studied galactooligosaccharide prebiotic on the market for adult nutrition.

Sports nutrition takes centre stage

Our work in sports nutrition reached new heights in 2025. Following years of research into the potential role of Bimuno GOS in athletic performance and recovery, we secured Gold at the NutraIngredients USA Awards in the Sports Nutrition category – a highly prestigious accolade that recognises the strongest innovation in this rapidly growing sector.

This recognition was supported by clinical evidence showing the ability of Bimuno GOS to support gastrointestinal health, immune function and recovery in athletes. With the sports nutrition market increasingly focused on holistic wellness rather than just performance enhancement, prebiotics are finding traction as a science-backed ingredient that address the gut-related challenges athletes face during intensive training.

We were also shortlisted as a finalist at the NutraIngredients Asia Awards 2025 in the Sports Nutrition category, reinforcing the global relevance and commercial potential of Bimuno GOS in this application.

Recognition across health categories

Our awards success extended beyond sports nutrition. At the Natural Choice Awards: Ingredients Edition, Bimuno GOS received Silver in the Immune Health category and Bronze in the Digestive Health category. These honours highlighted the versatility of our prebiotic ingredient in meeting consumer needs across two of the most important health categories in today’s nutrition market.

Together, these awards reflect not just the strength of our science, but also the increasing credibility that prebiotics like Bimuno GOS offer to formulators. They are evidence-backed solutions that resonate closely with the needs of health-conscious consumers.

Strategic expansion into pet nutrition

One of the most exciting developments in 2025 was our strategic expansion into the companion animal health and nutrition sector with Bimuno® Pet. Recognising that pet owners increasingly seek similar health benefits for their pets as they do for themselves, we took action to become a trusted partner for brands looking to incorporate prebiotics in this fast-growing market.

In June, we joined the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) in the USA as a Preferred Supplier. This designation reflects our commitment to regulatory excellence and supply chain integrity and gives NASC Primary Suppliers added assurance that Bimuno® Pet meets the high quality and compliance standards expected across the pet supplement supply chain.

In July, we joined BAFSAM (the British Association of Feed Supplement and Additive Manufacturers), strengthening our growing footprint in animal nutrition. Then in August, we further cemented our position by becoming a member of UK Pet Food, the trade association representing the UK’s pet nutrition industry.

By joining these industry associations, we want to bring our expertise in human nutrition to a wider array of sectors. With the global pet supplement category expected to exceed USD $3.19 billion by 2030, our expertise in prebiotic science perfectly positions us to support this evolution.

Regulatory milestones unlock new markets

Regulatory approvals are critical for making Bimuno GOS accessible to more formulators and consumers worldwide. In 2025, we secured another important milestone in Australia, where we announced that Bimuno GOS can now be included in products listed with Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).

This development enables dietary supplements marketed under the TGA framework to reference a range of permitted gut health related effects. This builds on Bimuno GOS’s existing status within the FSANZ (Food Standards Australia New Zealand) system, where 29 self-substantiated food-health relationship claims are already available.

Australia represents one of the world’s fastest-growing supplement markets, and prebiotics are seeing particularly strong growth, with the category expected to triple in value to USD $708 million by 2030 at an impressive 17.6% compound annual growth rate, according to Grand View Research.

In Colombia, we celebrated another success. Working with distribution partner CTC Group, we secured 11 health claims for Bimuno GOS, making it easier for brands in the region to communicate the benefits of our prebiotic ingredient with confidence.

Leadership and cultural focus

In October, we welcomed Marcelo Durante as Vice President of Sales & Marketing. With almost 30 years of international experience spanning food ingredients, nutraceuticals and pharmaceuticals across the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa and Asia Pacific, Marcelo brings valuable commercial leadership and a customer-centric approach that will support our continued global expansion.

Marcelo’s appointment reflects our ambition to be not just a supplier, but a strategic development partner to brands and manufacturers worldwide as they navigate the rapidly evolving gut health landscape.

But growth isn’t just about commercial success, it’s about doing so with the right values and culture. In March, we were recognised as a Hive Employee Voice Certified organisation for 2025. This certification reflects our belief that the strength of our business lies in our team, and our commitment to empowering our people, optimising workplace culture, and supporting employee wellbeing.

Throughout 2025, supporting our local and global communities remained a key part of who we are at Clasado. Led by our Chair of Clasado Charity, Samantha, our team engaged in several meaningful initiatives that made a difference.

Between March and September, we partnered with Reading Council for five litter-picking sessions, helping to keep our local environment clean and enjoyable for everyone. In July, our team worked with West Berks Foodbank on a local food drive, delivering 100 food crates to three schools and collecting empty crates from seven more to support families in need. In August, we contributed to First Days, a children’s Charity donating school uniforms, shoes, accessories and essentials, to help children facing poverty start the new school year with confidence. And in October, we supported the Link to Hope Charity Appeal, donating five shoeboxes filled with gifts for families and elderly people across Ukraine, Moldova, Romania and Bulgaria.

We’re proud of the time, generosity and compassion our team demonstrated throughout the year, and we look forward to continuing this journey in 2026.

A new digital presence

In October, we unveiled our completely redesigned website. More than just a fresh look, the new website serves as a comprehensive knowledge hub where formulators and brands can explore the depth of science, application insights, and market intelligence needed to successfully integrate prebiotics into innovative product development.

The updated site features enhanced navigation across health solution categories, from digestive and immune health to sports nutrition and cognitive and mental health and wellbeing, enabling product developers to quickly identify relevant research and application possibilities.

Global engagement through events and partnerships

Throughout 2025, we maintained an active presence at key industry events around the world, reinforcing our commitment to being accessible, engaged partners for the global health and nutrition community.

We attended major gatherings including Vitafoods Europe, Natural Products Expo West, SupplySide Global, Vitafoods Asia, ISAPP Annual Conference, Petfood Forum, IPC Athens, Food Ingredients China, Food Ingredients Europe, APP Australia, Beneficial Microbes and many more. Each event provided valuable opportunities to connect with formulators, share the latest science on Bimuno GOS, and learn about emerging trends shaping product development.

These face-to-face interactions remain essential because they help us to understand the specific challenges formulators face, from technical formulation questions to regulatory complexities and consumer trend navigation. Our goal at every event is simple: to be a helpful, knowledgeable resource that makes prebiotic integration easier and more successful.

Looking ahead: the future of prebiotics

As we close out 2025, we’re excited about what lies ahead. For Clasado, 2026 will be about deepening our partnerships, expanding access to Bimuno GOS in key growth markets, and continuing to invest in the science that sets us apart.

The prebiotic category has matured significantly. It’s no longer a niche concept discussed primarily in scientific circles, it’s a commercial reality with consumers actively seeking products that support their gut microbiome, and brands responding with science-backed innovations.

We’re proud to continue playing a key a role in this evolution, and we’re grateful to all our partners, customers, distributors, and the wider scientific community who have supported us on this journey.
